Product Review: Flip & Tumble
By metropolitanmama | December 28, 2007
With the coming and going of Christmas (and after reading this post by Steph at Adventures in Babywearing and watching the movie she mentions), I’ve been thinking a lot about the amount of “stuff” in our life. There are toys and books, clothes and shoes, furniture and frivolities, odds and ends…all throughout our house.
I am all about simplifying my life and tonight we’re doing our semi-routine “purge” - going through our house and filling up bags for charity and bags for the garbage man. And we’re hoping to not just go out and replace our old “stuff” with new “stuff.” We want to focus on other things that matter…
Like teaching our daughter that life is not about “stuff” (but about people).
We also want to be responsible about the kind of world that we leave behind us for the next generation (you know the message…recycle, reduce, reuse).
One small way to do this is by cutting back on the amount of plastic and “disposable” bags that we use every week (think about all those trips to the grocery store, Target, the corner drugstore, even the library).
Of course, there are all kinds of excuses that I tell myself: “Cloth bags are too bulky, too difficult to carry, too inconvenient.” Well, not all cloth bags…take, the flip & tumble bag, for instance. The flip & tumble bag rolls up into a tiny ball and fits into your purse with ease (plus, it doubles as a toy for an antsy toddler when you’re on the go!). All you have to do is pull it out and - kazam - it’s one easy way to help save the world!
Only fifteen bucks to buy a bag that will help me save the world? I’m in!
WIN IT! One winner will receive a flip & tumble bag. To enter, simply leave a comment and your e-mail address prior to Friday, January 4, at midnight. The winner will be announced and contacted on Saturday, January 5. * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.
* UPDATED * The winner is #55 bree. Congratulations!

This is cool. It would be great for travel to stick into your suitcase when you anticipate needing a carry-on for a few extra souvenirs on the trip back.

I was just telling a friend how overwhelmed I feel with STUFF everywhere. Of course, my kids don’t want to get rid of any of the dusty, unused toys that are sprinkled throughout the house even though they scored big time with Santa. Ugh, I’ll wait till they go back to school and start clearing out…
December 28th, 2007 at 5:20 pm
Sounds like a good product. Count me in.

I love how tiny that bag is. I try to reuse the plastic bags from Target and the grocery store, at least, but this would be a great item to use, too. And I hear you about the amount of “stuff”. I think we all get that slightly overwhelmed feeling just after Christmas. I, too, have to wait until the kids go back to school, then I can purge a bit more.

I am so on the same page as you are. Funny, I posted the Story of Stuff on my blog yesterday. I think I need to watch it at least once a month to stay focused….especially when I want to rush out to the mall to buy the “it” shirt for date night. Also, I am totally tracking with you about keeping our kids educated about stuff and what is important. I would love to use this bag and love it when I see others at the grocery store using reusable bags. Thanks.

Love the idea! Count me in please!

Great IDea! Id love a reusable bag. Ugh- even though I do reuse those plastic bags- for shipping, poopy diapers, and dog cleanup. I hate to see the tons of bags we come home with- not to mention those that break because of heavy items- a reusable bag would be just the ticket!jbubolz-miller@hotmail.com

That was a great video…made hubby and i think about all the “stuff” in our lives. I didn’t realize that this is another way we are hurting our environment. We too would like to rid ourselves of the excess (and avoid replacing it with more stuff).

January 4th, 2008 at 12:08 am
I love this concept. I have also thought about how bulky cloth bags can be and that is what has held me up with carting one around. This is right up my alley. I am way into my purging right now!
