    Working Mom Wednesday: Needlestack Jobs

    By metropolitanmama | February 20, 2008

Today it is my pleasure to introduce you to Kathleen Wiant, cofounder of Needlestack Jobs, a site that allows job seekers to search for “professional flextime jobs.” Wiant has a Marketing degree from Ohio University and her background is in IT (hardware and software). Wiant has five kids, ranging in age from 3-15.

Please give a warm welcome to Kathleen Wiant from Needlestack Jobs.

ME: When did you launch Needlestack and what’s the story behind it?
WIANT: We started working on it about a year and a half ago and it went live in August 2007. They say that “necessity is the mother of invention” and that’s how Needlestack Jobs was started. I needed more flexibility to manage our family needs.

ME: Do you only list jobs that are “flexible”?
WIANT: Yes, all the jobs are professional and all of the jobs are flexible. There are both full and part time options. There are also both permanent and temporary options.

ME: How large is your reach? Is it limited to one geograhic area?
WIANT: We have jobs from all over the country. We are nationwide. There are also some telecommuting positions available.

ME: Does it cost money to post a resume or to search the job listings?
WIANT: It’s completely free for the job seeker.

    ME: What industries are represented?
WIANT: We cover 13 different areas of focus: accounting, education, engineering, finance, government, health care, human resources, IT, legal, marketing, non-profit, pharmaceuticals, and sales.

ME: What is your vision for the future of Needlestack Jobs?
WIANT: We want to be a worldwide resource for work-life balance and flextime jobs.

Readers - Feel free to head over and check out the Needlestack Jobs site. Search for a job, post your resume, or just take a look around.
