Potty Chairs (for parents who prefer simplicity)
By metropolitanmama | March 31, 2008
BabyBjorn is a trusted brand when it comes to babywearing. In fact, it’s the GOLD standard for front pack carriers. Moms all over the world proudly wear their babies in Bjorn’s high-quality, stylish carriers.
As it turns out, BabyBjorn is equally on-board with helping parents during the potty training years. The company offers two potty chair choices -
1. The BabyBjorn Potty Chair, which features “high-back support and comfortable arm rests.”
2. The BabyBjorn Little Potty, which is “perfect for traveling or to keep in the car in case of emergencies” (I’ve also heard that this toilet is a favorite among ECers).

If you prefer to have your little one learn how to use the regular toilet, you might be interested in the BabyBjorn Toilet Trainer - a good idea for friends’ homes or grandpa & grandma’s house too!
Plus, you might want to consider getting a matching step stool to help your little one reach the sink to wash his hands - an important step of the potty training process.
One thing I particularly like about BabyBjorn’s Bathroom products is that they’re simple and streamlined. No fancy gimmicks, silly sounds, or musical flushes here. It’s just a potty - and thus it’s more likely to be used for its intended purpose instead of as a toy.
WIN IT! One mama will win a BabyBjorn Potty Chair. To enter, simply leave a comment on this post prior to Monday, April 7 at midnight (don’t forget to follow the rules). The winner will be announced and contacted on Tuesday, April 8. * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.
*UPDATE* The winner is #74 Lindsie. Congratulations!

I like the shape and streamlined look. I’m sure cleaning would be a breeze. Great timing for my 2 year old toddler twins, (and for my youngest baby, though she’s only 6 months old now). Kathy

We have a potty chair and use it, so don’t enter me, but I do wonder about them sometimes. I’ve heard that potty training can be easier if you use the big potty from the start because then it will be familiar from the start and the kids will go anywhere. But I’ve also heard that the big size of the adult potty is daunting and kids are more likely to go if they have one that’s their size. Does the book address this?
March 31st, 2008 at 1:54 pm
We’re fixin’ to start training our little guy. I think this would be a great help! I didn’t potty train our two oldest, now 14 and 12. My mother & sister-in-law did!! I guess it’s my turn now:)…lucky me, huh?!
March 31st, 2008 at 2:01 pm
The color is so pretty maybe might daughter might actually use the potty. That would be great if I could get her to use it!!!
March 31st, 2008 at 2:28 pm
I agree that is it nice that it doesn’t make sounds or anything. I’ve always wondered about the ones that looked like toys and if the child would think it was a toy and play with it instead of understanding its purpose. Thanks for the giveaway!
March 31st, 2008 at 2:42 pm
I would love to win this one for my baby girl. The shape actually reminds me of the potty we used for my oldest (now 10).
March 31st, 2008 at 5:03 pm
yeah I’ll need one of these in the near future my dear!

In the beginning, when my little guy wasn’t in our arms or being worn in his Bjorn on our chests, he was in his Bjorn bouncer. But he’s long since graduated from his baby Bjorn products that we couldn’t live without, and pretty soon we’ll need to look into acquiring a potty for the inevitable. Why not add another Bjorn to the family.
March 31st, 2008 at 5:29 pm
We have a potty but it is rather tippy and not fun to clean. It was used for the older girl but now her sister is in the beginning stages. This potty looks much better than the one we have. Clean lines, stable on the floor. I would love to give it a try.
March 31st, 2008 at 5:32 pm
These potty chairs ROCK. I’m not entering the contest. I have one. But I wanted to add my 2 cents. I wouldn’t have any other one.
March 31st, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Family secret - I didn’t potty train my son. My mother did! He’s 12 yrs old now (and potty trained ha!) but now, we have baby Bella… and I’m clueless!
I like the toilet trainer for our tiny bathroom and grandma’s house, but also really like the high back on the Baby Bjorn potty chair.
Will definitely look into these products. Thanks for sharing!
March 31st, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Now, that’s an elegant potty for sure
We’ve just embarked on this project and even I hate the potty we got poor Kiddo. I think this might make it easier on both of us.
Count us in - thanks!
I hate to share this great giveaway, but I’m still posting it tomorrow at my contest/giveaways blog A Bookworm’s Diary
I’m also having a giveaway later this week. So, come visit me as well!
March 31st, 2008 at 10:21 pm
I would love one of these to train my daughter! Thanks!
April 1st, 2008 at 4:07 am
I’m not entering the contest…these days are (thankfully) in my past. However, I just want to say that these are great chairs. They were actually the only ones that my sister could find that were large enough to be comfortable for her son who is larger than most other children.
April 1st, 2008 at 4:23 am
We already have one of these potty seats (in white) at home, but I’d love to win won to keep at my parent’s house. I, too, love the simplicity and also the color options
April 1st, 2008 at 6:23 am
I love the picture of the girl showing her monkey how to use the BABYBJÖRN Potty Chair on their website. Reminds me of a Dr. Phil episode I saw where he walked 3 celebrity couples and their soon-to-be potty trained kids through the initial steps of potty training. He also used a doll at first, helping to teach the kids what to do and to make it ‘fun’ for them. Can such a thing be ‘fun’? Great product, and would love to win!

We’re about to jump on the potty train… As I understand - no frills is the way to go and this potty is the best. We’re talking the potty talk now and as soon as she gets the walking down, we’ll have the potty out for her to get to. Would love to have this one by the time she’s there in the next couple of weeks (yikes!).
Thanks!
April 1st, 2008 at 6:54 am
We have the Baby Bjorn Little Potty and LOVE it. We EC our 10-month-old, and it’s the perfect size for her little tushy. She’s too little too sit independently on the big potty, even with a seat reducer. She loves sitting on the Little Potty all by herself.
April 1st, 2008 at 6:55 am
I’d love to win this…an ECing family can always use more potty chairs! We love the Baby Bjorn Little Potty!
April 1st, 2008 at 7:14 am
We would love to win one of these as we are just starting the potty training process.
April 1st, 2008 at 7:27 am
I’d also love to win the potty chair! Our house has quite a few little potties, but my 18mo ECer has now expressed a distinct preference for the potty chair!
April 1st, 2008 at 8:21 am
These potties are awesome. I used one for my first two kids and plan on with the third. An extra would be really handy to have around since we are already arguing over who gets to use it with two kids!
April 1st, 2008 at 9:19 am
what a nice design! My little dude has started taking notice of the potty, but with a bathroom that seems more like a hallway with a potty at the end, we are having a hard time figuring out how to fit a “little potty” in it. My husband thought we could just out it in the tub (would make for easy cleaning), but I think this would work better
April 1st, 2008 at 11:10 am
I’d love to win this for my sister or my cousin who has 14 month old twins!!
April 1st, 2008 at 11:12 am
Would be great to save for my daughter who is trying to have a baby!
April 1st, 2008 at 5:10 pm
I could never find these with my first child and ended up buying one that makes sounds. He would never use the potty instead he played with it. Would love to try out the BabyBjorn Potty with my other little guy. Thanks for the chance!
April 1st, 2008 at 7:04 pm
I would absolutely love this. We are about to start potty training my son who is terrified of toilets and my daughter will be right behind him potty training. I have heard great things about these potty chairs and I would love one.
April 1st, 2008 at 7:04 pm
I like the simple design. We received a large wooden potty chair as a hand me down. It is complete with a magazine rack and toilet paper holder. It’s cute, but won’t fit in my tiny bathroom. This would be a great help in the potty training addition!
Thanks.
April 1st, 2008 at 7:09 pm
This would be great for both my little ones who will be potty training very soon.
April 1st, 2008 at 7:14 pm
Oh I’d love to win this! My daughter is only almost 17 months, but I’d like to start potty training in about six months or so. Thank you!
April 1st, 2008 at 7:17 pm
I was just looking to get a potty to have around the house so my daugher can get used to it. This one looks great!
April 1st, 2008 at 7:20 pm
What a great looking, simple potty. Perfect!
April 1st, 2008 at 7:26 pm
I love the design of this seat! So simple! Please enter us!
April 1st, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Funny you mention keeping the little one in the car because that’s where ours lives. It has saved us more times than I can count. I LOVE it. It has survived 3 kids. The same can’t be said of the more complicated ones. And heck, my big kids occasionally use it when we’re stranded without options and it holds up wonderfully.
Please enter us because I’d love to win one to give to my sister.
April 1st, 2008 at 7:36 pm
This is exactly what I need. My daughter will be three in July and we have yet to master potty training. Maybe this will motivate her to go in the potty.
April 1st, 2008 at 7:41 pm
My daughter isn’t quite old enough yet to potty train however it is right around the corner. I think these potty chairs look interesting and hopefully are user friendly. I like the looks and I hope my little girl will too.
April 1st, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Just in time, my 2 and 1/2 year old boy and I are getting ready to get serious about this potty training business
April 1st, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Oh we need this so bad. We are about to start potty training. And I am not crazy about music while he tinkles, lol.

oh how cute i could use one for my little one for when that big day comes thanks jenny9675309@yahoo.com
April 1st, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Would love this potty for my almost 3 year old boy.
Thanks for the contest!
April 1st, 2008 at 8:04 pm
This would be great for us! We are getting ready to begin potty training soon. we currently have a potty topper and my son is not totally into that. I’m thinking its probably because it is uncomfortable for him since the toilet is so high. This would be a great help!
April 1st, 2008 at 8:05 pm
i dread even thinking about potty training my little guy, but i suppose it is inevitable….lol. maybe a cool little potty chair like this will make it a little more fun and entertaining. thanks!

April 1st, 2008 at 8:10 pm
I saw one of these in action at a friend’s house. Thet are great!!! would love to win.
April 1st, 2008 at 8:20 pm
thanks for the link to the EC thing, I hadn’t heard of it before! Baby is only just due in May, so we would be storing the potty chair for a while…unless we tried the EC thing…
April 1st, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Im interested in trying this chair as we have a ring, but the results have been less than stellar- perhaps this woul work better
April 1st, 2008 at 8:24 pm
WOOHOO- something Im looking for!! a potty chair thats simple
April 1st, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Well, with my 15 month old, it seems a little early. But she has lately been taking off her diaper (or patting her butt) when she has pooped. In talking with her doctor, that seems to be the first sign of readiness. We went looking for a potty this weekend and found nothing. This would be perfect.
April 1st, 2008 at 8:36 pm
I guess this is the next big hurdle for us. Well, maybe walking first, then potty training. Has your little one shown any interest in the potty yet?
April 1st, 2008 at 8:42 pm
This would come in handy for my boy. Fingers crossed!
April 1st, 2008 at 8:42 pm
I have a 15 month old girl and a 10 week old girl… I REALLY need this potty. They will then have one at Daddy’s house, one at the babysitters and one with me.. (this one of course!)
Please Please Please!
Thanks a ton hon!
April 1st, 2008 at 8:57 pm
This is what is coming up next for us - I’m not quite ready for this whole thing, but it will be nice to not have to change diapers anymore. This looks like a great product, and I thought you had a good point about it being simply a potty and not a toy.
April 1st, 2008 at 8:58 pm
I’ve been doing some research on the best methods (ring vs. chairs) for potty training, and I have heard so many great things about the Baby Bjorn potty chair. Even though my daughter is still a little young, I’m interested in teaching/showing her the concept. It’s never too early to start training, right?!
April 1st, 2008 at 9:15 pm
i like your new blog layout. great giveaway, thanks steph!
April 1st, 2008 at 9:16 pm
I’ve been eager to get a baby bjorn potty for my daughter who is just about old enough to train. Hope you pick my name. Thanks for the great contest.
April 1st, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Great giveaway! This would be very useful.
April 1st, 2008 at 10:05 pm
It’s that time again to start potty training our second and I want something simple just like this potty chair.
April 2nd, 2008 at 3:57 am
I was really interested in the BabyBjorn Little Potty because we watch our grandchildren quite often but had no trouble with the 2 boys using the big pot but now we have our first granddaughter and have all 3 at once. Too much for 2 seniors. It would be really nice to have a potty left at our house, though I think my dear daughter in law would want the pretty streamlined new one for home, anyway a second potty would save schlepping one back and forth . Thanks Martha W.

April 2nd, 2008 at 4:42 am
I love these chairs! We had one for my 1st daughter and would love one for my second. They really are so easy to clean and transport, it is worth the money.
April 2nd, 2008 at 5:15 am
We could really use a potty chair right now. Our little girl is refusing the big potty with the little seat we put on it for her and I think this might help the situation. All of the potty training books stress a small potty, which we were trying to avoid in our tiny house. But if we win one….
April 2nd, 2008 at 5:24 am
This type of potty would be perfect for our small house. I like that it doesn’t have a lot of parts to fiddle with.
April 2nd, 2008 at 5:26 am
Oh lord, if only it came with someone to actually do the potty training, it would be perfect! Someone should market that. Anyway, anything that could help with an almost 3 year old boy, I’d love to give a try. The ring hasn’t worked, the Once Upon a Potty hasn’t worked…I’m desperate.

April 2nd, 2008 at 5:26 am
We could use a new potty…our has been through 4 other nieces before it came to us! The seat is starting to crack!
April 2nd, 2008 at 5:51 am
The Bjorn stepstools are the best, we have two of them and could probably use another couple…
April 2nd, 2008 at 6:12 am
This is exactly the potty chair I want to train my 2 year old on! I’ve heard good things from my friends about how easy it is for their child to empty on their own and am hopping I have the same success with my daughter. Thanks!
April 2nd, 2008 at 6:25 am
I’d love to win this for my friends daughter whom is turning 2 this month and they’re getting ready to start potty training
April 2nd, 2008 at 6:36 am
I’m starting to potty training my daughter. Not turning out so easy, but we are working on it. I like the high-back one, seems like it would be super comfortable for her.
April 2nd, 2008 at 6:37 am
This would be just in time for us… Would love to start potty training when the weather gets warmer!
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:32 am
I like the fact that they make basic seats. When potty training my daughter, I didn’t want to make a big production of it because I don’t want her to think of pottytime as playtime. I could really use a step stool!
Thanks!
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:35 am
This is the perfect time for us to win something like this!
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:53 am
As many have said, simple chairs are the best. I’d like to have one like this to get my little girl used to it. Our bathroom is tiny so small is a must. And it was so nice to read some of the other comments on how much people have liked this chair. Thanks for the opportunity!
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:29 am
this would be a great help in our home!
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:31 am
I love the pretty color and how simple it is!
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:37 am
We have the Baby Bjorn toilet insert and it’s so great — love the simplicity. Currently training a 2.5 year old in a one bathroom apartment…a potty would definitely help
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:43 am
My friend whose daughter is 4 months older than mine just bought a Bjorn potty and really likes it… I wasn’t planning to start potty training until at least this summer but when I do I’m thinking about starting with a Bjorn. Thanks for the contest!
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:52 am
This is the very product we are needing. We are working on potty training and I understand the Bjorn works well for the techniques we are using.
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:54 am
we love these potty chairs…definitely would love one for the grandparents’ house as we’re just getting ready to potty train!
rosiegirl8 AT gmail DOT com
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:27 am
What a great looking potty chair! I just bought one for my 2yo and he does not like it…but then again, I don’t think I would either. It’s a square shape and looks very uncomfortable to sit on. I like the Bjorn chairs bc they look like their made for little kids to site on - comfortably! I think I could convince my son to potty train with one of these chairs!
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:53 am
This looks like a good way to get things going - wouldn’t it be lovely NOT to have to change diapers!
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:10 am
I love these chairs. They are nice looking, easily transportable and we would love to have one! I can’t wait for diaper-free days!
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:26 am
Don’t just want it, we NEED this!! LOL!
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:09 am
I don’t need one yet, but will evetually and these look really simple without sequins or flashiness like I’ve seen lately!
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:11 am
Potty training and diapers are the scariest part of the baby to my hubby! Anything to make it easier, and faster, I am SURE hubby will be happy about (and he won’t even be changing many diapers). These look simple enough to clean too, and that’s important considering that I will be the one cleaning it!
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:16 am
Oh, we could really use this! I need all the potty-training help I can get.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:23 am
oh, and my email is geniesflower at yahoo dot com
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:54 am
I would love to win this chair!
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:58 am
My daughter isn’t potty-learning yet but she does like to sit on her Bjorn Potty Chair! I’ve been looking for another one for the downstairs bathroom in preparation for when she really gets going (pun intended ;).
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:03 pm
I like how uncomplicated these chairs are. We’re getting ready to pottytrain our little girl and she wanted a potty all her own, so this would be great!
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:55 pm
with potty training in my very near future, I need all the help I can get! since my oldest is 16, there have been so many neat inventions that have come out and I’d love to have something new
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:56 pm
My daughter just turned 15 months so we have started to think about introducing the idea od potty training. This would be a great start. Thanks
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:57 pm
the simple design is key as is the mobility, this is great
April 2nd, 2008 at 1:22 pm
We have been using our Little Potty to do some EC since Miss Baby was 2 1/2 weeks old, with her sittni g on it since 5 on it sinc 5 months. At 10 months she happily sits (and poops) on it every morning, and any other time we change her diaper. It’s never to early to get your baby used to a potty! If nothing else, you will have a bigger kid who understands how to poop on a toilet, as opposed to most later start kiddos. It’s a great place to read books. I’d love the bigger one. Thanks for the chance!
April 2nd, 2008 at 1:23 pm
I’ve just been discussing potty training with my mom and husband. Our daughter is 15 months old. This would be perfect timing for us and looks like a terrific chair!

I am just starting to try potty training with my
little girl! We have a little seat that goes over
the adult toilet but she seems scared of falling in
— maybe the bjorn potty will work!
April 2nd, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Welllll…I’ve heard wonderful things about this potty and given that I’m expecting, I figure it will come in handy in a few years.
tigerjennv at yahoo dot com
April 2nd, 2008 at 5:31 pm
I know of lots of people who use this potty who are practicing elimination communication (EC). They are happy with the different colors available, how low to the ground it is (for young babies) and that it doesn’t tip over. I never bought this one because I didn’t want to buy it on-line and pay for shipping fees.
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Time to start potty training- we’d love to win this. Thanks so much!
April 3rd, 2008 at 6:25 am
I love the simplicity of these chairs. No goofy characters or weird sounds. Just a straight-up potty!
April 3rd, 2008 at 6:26 am
Love this chair! No goofy characters or weird sounds. After all, we’re trying to teach “get your business done and go” not playtime at the potty.
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:39 am
I’m really torn between wanting the little potty (we do a little EC’ing) or the toilet trainer. On the one hand, it’d be nice if my little one could put her feet down while she’s on the potty. On the other hand, it’d be nice for her to continue to learn to go in the big potty so there wouldn’t be any extra cleaning. I can’t decide, but either way, Baby Bjorn is definitely the way to go with kid’s toilets!
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:10 am
I love that they come in such fun bright colors!
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:44 am
We’re going to train our daughter this summer, and it’d be nice to have a simpler chair for her, not to mention a girly color (the hand-me-down seat from our son is, of course, blue)! Thanks! ( meg.wilson@gmail.com )
April 3rd, 2008 at 2:12 pm
I’m thinking of starting to potty train this summer, so this would be perfect! Plus I’ve heard great things about the Baby Bjorn potties.

Definitely could use one of these soon!
April 3rd, 2008 at 3:53 pm
We are just starting potty training I would love this for my daughter!!
April 3rd, 2008 at 5:01 pm
I am dreading potty training… anything free would help me dread a little less!
April 3rd, 2008 at 5:47 pm
These seats are the best- I wish I had used one with my son instead of the Fisher Price one that leake1d all over!! Simple is better, I would *love*to win
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Hi there,
I’ve really been wanting to try the bjorn chair for my daughter who is just old enough to start trainng. Hope you pick my name.

I’m STILL trying to get our 3 year old trained
April 4th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Though we are still quite a bit away from potty training - I still remember what a hassle it was with my last boy. I need to prepare now.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
We are starting to potty train #2 and I was just thinking that it would be handy to have another potty so there’s one in each bathroom. This would be great - thanks for the contest!
April 5th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
We’re still about a year and a half from needing this, but it’s never to early to be prepared!
April 6th, 2008 at 10:14 am
we will be needing one of these soon for our little guy. Hope I win!
April 6th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
I think you are right about the design. I can just see some of the other “fancy” ones becoming toys. Plus, they look nice and compact which is great because our main bathroom was built in the 50s, and someone added a too-large vainity + counter some time in between then and now… which leaves very little room to maneuver. Small potty training equipment will be vital for us! My son is 19 months old, so I think the potty training days are not too far removed - would love to win.
April 6th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
our little bundle of energy just turned two and we are working on the challenge of sitting still long enough to use the potty. this would be great!
April 7th, 2008 at 7:30 am
We totally need a bjorn potty for my daughter. Currently we have the graco potty from my son and my daughter is so tiny she falls in! I saw the bjorn one and think she will fit much better on it, plus it comes in pink!
April 7th, 2008 at 9:41 am
We have the little potty, but would love to get the potty chair too! I live in Canada, but I have a US mailing address that I can use.
April 7th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
