The Learning Tower by little Partners, Inc.

    By metropolitanmama | March 18, 2008

I love letting my daughter “help” me make dinner, bake cookies, blend up smoothies, and wash the dishes. Up until recently, the hardest part about letting her help was that there was nowhere for her to stand. I ended up either holding her on my hip (which didn’t work very well) or letting her sit or stand on the counter top (always with supervision, mind you). Some of my friends choose to pull up a chair from their dining room table for their little one to stand on, but that can be slightly dangerous too because toddlers aren’t always the most graceful people.

This dilemma is one that Carol Gamble faced with her daughter and so she created a solution - The Learning Tower by little Partners, Inc.

Designed for children 18 months+, The Learning Tower is a step stool with a 15″ x 18″ adjustable height deck. Surrounding the deck are four sturdy sides which provide support while climbing on, or standing in the Tower.

    Check out these incredible features:

My daughter stands in her Learning Tower every single day now without exception. It truly is a practical and functional and fabulous invention. The only downside is that it is rather large so it can’t easily be “put away” or stored, but the various wood finishes are very classy and don’t detract from the traditional “look” of modern kitchens. We keep ours out all of the time because we use it so often.

Interested in purchasing one for yourself? Find a retailer near you or shop for a Learning Tower online. The Learning Tower usually retails between $180 and $185.

WIN IT! One mama will win a Learning Tower of her own! To enter, simply leave a comment on this post prior to Tuesday, Mar. 25, at midnight (don’t forget to follow the rules). The winner will be announced and contacted on Wednesday, March 26. * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

*UPDATE* The winner is #69 guysrose. Congratulations!

I always let my girls stand on chairs at the counter and I’m a nervous wreck the whole time because it’s not so safe.

I’ve wanted a Learning Tower for eons but haven’t been able to justify the cost. I’d love to win one!

What better way to engage my daughter in what I’m doing in the kitchen than to let her stand at the counter next to me. She would LOVE helping me do dishes! And the grin on your daughter’s face totally sells the product!

I have two little ones that love to help me bake and cook, but I deal with the same problem - where do I put them so they are safe? Usually we resort to sitting on the counter or pulling up a chair, but then I spend all my time worrying about them falling and it takes the fun out of the activity. The Learning Tower looks awesome!

I LOVE this idea! I’m constantly pulling chairs in and out of the kitchen for my 2 year old to “help” me cook. Then, everytime I have to go to the fridge or sink I have to take her down, and then put her back up. This would be great! Props to the inventor of this great idea =)

Pleae enter me in the contest!!

Oh my gosh, this is the coolest contest ever! I am so hoping my comment is randomly drawn. My 17 month old hangs from my legs while I’m trying to cook every night. Oh man, it’s nuts. I’ve been drooling over Learning Towers for a while, but there is just no way I can justify the cost. I’d love to win!

I just had this exact same dilema the other day. I was letting my son help me make French Toast (posting on my blog coming soon) and was having trouble either holding him or keeping one hand on him while he sat on the counter top. I didn’t even know this stool was on the market. Thanks for the chance to win one!

We’re dining room chair folks, and it IS iffy, but we have no other way to do it right now. I certainly don’t have the cash to fork out for the tower, although I realize that my child’s safety is of the utmost importance. This would be a great way to keep her involved in a safe manner! Thanks! (Oh random generator people, please pick this number…please with a cherry on top?)

oh, please pick me! My son always wants to watch and right now I let him teeter on the bar stools. Many times I have had to drop everything to catch him from falling off. This would get tons of use in our house! Thank you!

How cool is that tower! I have two little chef’s in the family and they would love this. We have stools that we use but they are still too short to really get at the counter to “cook”! Thank you for the contest.

What a wonderful invention! So simple, yet genious. Would love my son to “help” me make dinner with this. I really enjoyed your “Toddler weekend” :)

This is definitely among the most wonderful toddler/young child inventions I’ve ever seen! Like you, I have young ones who love to help with the cooking. It doesn’t stop there! With three children in the house now it would be especially wonderful to have. This would allow my older children to have the access they might need to taller things or to help me while still allowing me to keep my hands on our newborn. I can see our children being very creative with this too — using it for everything from playing teacher to doing puppet shows. I am a big fan of anything that helps promote independance — and the fact that this does that while providing for safety is outstanding. What a tremendous blessing this would be to our family! Thank you for the opportunity, and for helping me discover such a wonderful product!

My little guy is now at the stage where whatever I’m doing in the kitchen, he wants to see and help. So the Learning Tower would help keep him in one place, and eliminate the creative climbing skills he’s acquired since he’s developed this newfound I-want-to-help with/see- what’s-going-on-in-the-kitchen phase.

This would be perfect for my two year old to use. I have been teaching her to cook and we normally use a dining room chair to help her reach the kitchen counter. Her favorite part of cooking is cracking the eggs. Go figure. It makes me nervous the entire time because there are no sides to the chair and I worry that she will fall off. This step tower would eliminate my worries and make it more fun for both of us to cook.

My worry was always protecting him, so it was & still is a chore. He is always so proud of the results. I wish I would have known about this a year ago, I could have worried less and enjoyed it more. Now, I have a little granddaughter, so this would be so much safer! It would also still work with my grandson! Thanks for showing this!

I am like most of the other posters, always hated the wobblyness of a chair. My daughter who is 6 now, is a lil short for her age, and still has to use a stepping stool to help me in the kitchen. We used to use a chair, but they always seemed to get pushed away from the counter and she would fall.

I have a 6 month old son and this would be great for him, when he is ready to help mommy in the kitchen :)

I really like the product a lot, just can’t afford one! So thanks for the giveaway chance!

It would be great to have one less thing to worry about in the kitchen, seeing as how I already worry about leaving knives or hot things too close to small hands, whether I’ve forgotten any ingredients in a recipe, or whether everything is being poured on the floor or over the mixing bowl….

      Thanks for the FABULOUS giveaway!!!

I really want one of these. I just love how versatile they are. My daughter can use it to help cook in the kitchen which she LOVES to do (and I can breath since she won’t be on a chair anymore), then she can use it to put on puppet/doll shows. Once she is done with that I think it would be fun to take her to the park with her friends and they can play “Lemonade” stand with it. This is such a neat invention!

What a wonderful invention! My son has recently started helping in the kitchen - and this would be a great “help” for Mom to not have to worry about falling off chairs, etc.

I just thought about this very thing today as my children were pillaging their lunches on the counter as fast as I could make them, but just a little too short so as to be pelting their heads with blueberries, which were consequently squished all over the kitchen floor, resulting in the appearance that we had been stomping exotic blue-blooded bugs.

Oh my goodness - 209 comments!!! Now you have 210! What a great idea. My daughter has a bench that she moves around in the kitchen so she can see what we are doing. I think we have only had a couple of close calls. This is an excellent idea. I love the fact that is has a back bar so she cannot lean back too far.

I saw this reviewed on a blog months and months ago and put it on my “wanted” list because it does really look like something we would use a lot. I have 3 young daughters, and we’ve already had our share of falls from kitchen chairs as they’ve stood on them to help me bake, etc.

My two year old girl would love this. She’s a climber and doer after seeing three older brothers do things. In just a matter of a few seconds, she climbed on a stool at the stove to get her own second helping of soup! (which I quickly put an end to) She would be much safer and happier that she could see what is going on if we had one of these. What a great idea.
