Tuesday Tours: What’s Happening on the Web

    By Stephanie | September 30, 2008

Welcome to “Tuesday Tours: What’s Happening on the Web” where I serve as your tour guide and showcase the best contests, freebies, deals, and reads for moms on the web…all in one convenient location.

    Contests

Check out these fun, western-inspired shirts for little boys from Wonderboy on the MyMomShops blog. Leave a comment before Oct. 1 to enter to win one for your little cowboy.

Win a $500 Dream Shoe Wardrobe in Robeez’ daily contest. There are secondary prizes too! The contest ends Oct. 5

BabyLuxe {daily} is giving away an Exergen TemporalScanner. Just hold it up to your baby’s forehead and this little device “scans” for a temperature! Genius! Deadline: Oct. 5

5M4M is hosting another great photo contest. This time the prize is a complete bedroom furniture set from South Shore Furniture, including a twin bed, dresser, nightstand, and more (valued at over $1,000!). Submit a photo of your sleeping cherub by Oct. 13 for your chance to win.

I admit. I love High School Musical. It’s sweet and soulful…and the songs are sing-along sensational. Now, I can’t wait to see HSM 2. Anyone with me? Win a copy of the DVD over at Seven Dogs and A Baby, now through Oct. 15

    Announcements

If you live in Orange County…Kidsfaire (“America’s Family Expo“) is coming your way this weekend – October 4-5. It looks like a great time for families! Let me know if you go!

    Good Reads

Are cloth diapers really better for the environment? Read Silvia Spring’s article, entitled “The Great Diaper Debate,” on The Boston Globe website for an analysis of the cloth versus disposable question.

I never mastered the nursing-in-a-baby-carrier thing with my daughter, but I intend to give it a try when baby #2 comes along in March. Read some great tips about Breastfeeding and Babywearing on the Along for the Ride website.

    Cool Deals

Did you know that Target gives you $.05 off your bill when you bring a bag of your own? Read all about it over at The Dirty Work. Five cents isn’t much, but it’s a step in the right direction.

    Miscellany

Check out these Election Day Cookies from Eleni’s. Choose between Obama or McCain. Fun! Imagine a plate of these out at your next political gathering or presidential debate party. Speaking of politics, how “involved” are you in the 2008 race?

I like the election cookie, very cool. I am involved by being the assistant registrar for my voting area in town, working election day.

Cute belly pic! My husband took belly profile pics the entire pregnancy…but I should’ve done them myself in a mirror, THEN I could’ve taken ‘em when I wanted :-)

I love Along for the Ride. The actual brick & mortar shop by the same owner is here in Charlottesville: Nature’s Child. They also have a pretty awesome blog. They asked me to do some health talks at their store on babywearing and posture, breastfeeding and posture :-)
