Rear-facing car seats are so not my favorite invention. I appreciate them for safety reasons, of course. But in the practical sense, they’re pure misery for moms.
When my daughter was a newborn, I remember feeling helpless so many times in the car. If she was crying, it made my heart break and I hated that I couldn’t see her little face. If she was silent, that was almost worst because then I worried about her like crazy.
I think I would have liked to receive this little bit of “peace of mind” in my stocking that first Christmas – the Safe View Mirror by Munchkin. It’s compact and unobtrusive, but also offers 360-degree rotation. I haven’t tried this product personally, but – at $4.99 – it seems like a fantastic product to slam dunk into any baby’s stocking.

I have one of these and I love it! Hubby keeps trying to steal it for his truck… maybe I should get him one for his stocking :)
I don’t want this one since we just flipped Cheeks around, but I’ve got to say that the two mirrors I’ve tried have left me wanting. They weren’t clear enough, so I had a hard time seeing the baby and I had to look harder, which made it dangerous to drive. After those experiences I felt it might be better and safer to pull over and do a quick check if I was worried about the baby. It’s been nice having an older sibling to check on the baby this time around, too!
I would have loved having one of these. Brea just got turned around a few months ago so we are good now. I did just find out that my little (just turned 20) brother’s dad is expecting another baby though so this would be great for him.
I like mine! When I don’t hear Miss Pea girl babbling in the back I can take a quick peek. Usually she’s watching for me to look over and once she sees me she starts waving. It’s pretty darn cute!
I’ve always hoped for a product like this!!
If this is the one that goes on your rear view mirror I really like it. My parents actually bought me one this summer but then we couldn’t put in on our mirror b/c it’s a strange shape (the mirror in our car).
