    Eye Shadow…The Easy Way!

    By Stephanie | January 3, 2009

    logo_coloronWhy do girls wear makeup?

My husband asked my that question when we first started dating. He was 18. I was 16. He told me that girls looked much better without the “paint.” For the most part, I agreed.

I wore very little make-up then. And I still wear very little – although I’m finding that a touch of lipstick, a twirl of mascara, and a hint of tinted moisturizer can do wonders for my appearance now that I’m getting “older.”

coloron professional instant eye shadowThat said, there are occasions when I enjoy “going glam” for an evening. Only one problem: I am not a make-up artist and things like eye shadow confuse me. So I have two options – I can call my sister Kathryn (a beauty queen and aspiring cosmetologist) OR I can use a ColorOn Professional Instant Eye Shadow kit.

These are single-use, hygienic, hypoallergenic applicators that require no makeup skills, no brushes or secondary applicators. Imagine an eye shadow that is waterproof, crease-proof, and long-wearing that transfers to the eyelid with just a touch.”

Did you catch the part about “no makeup skills?” These applicators just scream my name. I tried them and I have to say they ARE super easy (just stick the applicator on the lid, pull it off, do a little touch-up blending, and add a little powder…) and the results are quite nice. You can make your look as dramatic or as “natural” as you like with just a little blending.

The kits, which include five pairs of appliques, retail for $25 at sephora.com.

WIN IT! One winner will receive a ColorOn EyeEnvy kit ($25) of her choice. To enter, leave a comment on this post prior to Sunday, January 11 at midnight (don’t forget to follow the rules). * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

*UPDATE* The winner is #23 Sarah. Congratulations!

Ooh, that’s exciting! I know a little bit about application, but I wear eye shadow so infrequently that I have very few shades to choose from (it’s not worth it to spend money on something I wear once or twice a year). I’d love to try these. By the way, my hubby is the same way; he wonders why I bother with even the ONE thing I put on, mascara. Which I don’t leave the house without…

I am make-up challenged too. I once had a friend give me a beautiful makeover. All my girlfriends were oohing and ahhing but when I went home, my husband didn’t even notice!

Wow! I love makeup but I have yet to master putting it on. I blame it on having only brothers growing up and no sisters to teach me!

      January 4th, 2009 at 12:38 am

I’m make-up challenged as well. My sister likes to tease me, but a least she’s around to give me advice!

Another makeup challenged person! I would love to try this product. I have had a makeover once and loved the way she did my eyes, but I have never been able to do the same for myself. I would love to have these for the occasional night out. The tropic is beautiful. Thanks for another great giveaway.

    7. Deborah Says:

I only wear makeup about 20% of the time. This product looks great for someone like me!!

    8. Sarah VM Says:
      January 4th, 2009 at 7:40 am

I wear makeup almost everyday. I feel naked without it. I would like to see a picture of you with the makeup on to see how it really works? This is a great giveaway. Thanks!

I love this idea since I can barely put 1 color on!

    10. Becca Says:
      January 4th, 2009 at 8:13 am

I have no make-up skills AND no sister Kathryn. If I won I’d find a reason to get glammed up.

Now that eyeshadow looks incredible! :) I’m so excited about this because I can never get mine to blend when I go out on the town (which is very infrequently) these days! :) Thanks so much!

That looks like fun! I have no skill at make-up beyond basics, so this would be an improvement.

    13. Summer Says:
      January 4th, 2009 at 9:37 am

Hmmm, that looks interesting. I also wear very little makeup and know next to nothing about applying it properly.

      January 4th, 2009 at 11:36 am

My aunt was just complaining that she wanted to learn how to do a smoky eye! I heard about these, and would love to get some to give to her.

    15. Madeline Says:
      January 4th, 2009 at 11:44 am

That looks like fun. I’m not so great at achieving the super glam look on my own. Maybe there’s hope for me yet.

    16. Maggie M Says:
      January 4th, 2009 at 2:02 pm

I am technically challenged when it comes to applying more than one thing to my eyes. This kit looks like a lot of fun and I’d love to try it. It would give me an excuse to ask my husband to take me out somewhere, lol.

    17. Ashley Says:

I just saw these at Sephora yesterday and it piqued my interest. I love playing around with make-up! My sister-in-law is a professional make-up artist and has taught me a few things, otherwise I would have no clue.

My husband loves it when I have no make-up on, with my hair in a pony tail. It is a great reason not to do my hair:)

    18. Anna Says:
      January 4th, 2009 at 4:17 pm

Too fun! Are you sure they’re easy enough for me to figure out? ;)

    19. Colleen Says:

I would love to try this. I don’t have the best skill at applying eyeshadow. Thanks for the giveaway!

This looks so neat. What a great idea for when you’re in a hurry, but want to look like you took a lot of time. I like that it can be as dramatic or faint as you like.

    30. Tanya Brackley Says:

I feel naked with out makeup although I don’t wear much – like so many other woman, I find it really hard to apply it right, or even find the right color. I wanted to be a make-up artist but I’m glad I went with a different field. I would either never have succeeded…or I would have learned how to do it correctly. I guess I’ll just never know.

    31. Lauren Says:
      January 5th, 2009 at 1:22 pm

This is a great invention. Why did they not come up with this sooner? With double the effort, me putting on eyeshadow only winds up looking half as good as this product, so I would love to try this.

    32. lisa Says:
      January 5th, 2009 at 2:27 pm

I am very much interested in this concept. I am completely inept at putting on eyeshadow and achieving this kind of professional result.

I rarely have a good “eye” for putting on shadow – it’s either too much or not enough. This would help out a lot!

      January 6th, 2009 at 9:59 am

I am quite clueless when it comes to good eyeshadow application ~ I would love to win one of these! I usually just put some on my lids and some on the crease and the top and go. Yikes.

    39. Jen Mc Says:
      January 6th, 2009 at 2:07 pm

I hate putting on eyeshadow since I can just never get it quite right. This would be great to try out.

    40. Angie Says:
      January 6th, 2009 at 3:21 pm

I confess that I have had the same eyeshadow for about 3 years. It’s been used twice… well, maybe three times. I would love to try something new that would be easier to apply and not give me that “playing with mommy’s make up” look.

    41. Deanna Says:
      January 6th, 2009 at 4:37 pm

What a neat idea! I love make-up and these would be perfect for me! :)

OMGosh these look so great! I don’t wear makeup often either, I do have an old standby routine that looks good but it’s not very ‘glam’ and sometimes you just want glam!
