Welcome to “Tuesday Tours: What’s Happening on the Web” where I serve as your tour guide and showcase the best contests, freebies, deals, and reads for moms on the web…all in one convenient location.
Contests
Simple Finds is giving away a $50 gift certificate to DownEast. DE has some awesome styles for moms, but I’m especially eyeing their girls collection. That Dottie Dress is so gorgeous! Deadline: May 14.
I’m a jeans girl, but sometimes a non-denim pair of pants is in order. Jenny {Blissful Style} is giving away FIVE pairs of Lee colorwash khakis…and she even has a video review of herself wearing them. Deadline: May 17.
As I said, I’m a jeans girl. Dolly @ Traveling With Baby is giving away a pair of Chip & Pepper bootcut jeans right now (and I am so going to enter!). Deadline: May 18.
Just in time for summer! Enter to win a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker at Your Mama Reviews. Deadline: May 19.
Caryn {Rockin’ Mama} is giving away a 6-month supply of Dreyer’s ice cream. Deadline: May 27. Side note: Do you ever wonder how a month’s supply of ice cream is calculated? Do they take into account, for example, if you have a family of two or six or ten…or whether you eat one bowl of ice cream per per week…or per night?
Ready to run? Win a pair of men’s or women’s New Balance tennis shoes over at Peanut Butter and Smelly’s Dad. Deadline: May 29.
Good Reads
Good advice from a seasoned blogger and a leader in the field: Maybe I’ll Change My Name to Amusing Housewife {Musings of A Housewife}. I definitely do the EXACT same thing she does so I apologize if your blog starts with an M, N, O, etc. :)
Mel {A Box of Chocolates} recently wrote a post called “Giveaways with a Catch” that I really appreciated. Essentially, she talked about her frustration with blog giveaways with multiple entry paths (twitter this, facebook this, blog about this, etc.). I’m actually hosting a multiple entry path giveaway right now for a Toshiba Laptop, but I typically don’t do that for precisely the reasons that she mentions. Maybe I’ll write a post about it sometime. What do YOU think? Do you like the opportunity for extra entries or do you prefer just one entry method?
The Social Security Administration just released the most popular baby names for 2008. Emma and Jacob top the list. Is YOUR baby’s name on the list?
Miscellany
Nell {Casual Friday Everyday} just started a photography blog: shesnaps.com. Recently, she posted a super cool photo entitled “Laughter.” I absolutely love how her face is in color and her joy seems to be radiating to those around her.
The Motherwear Breastfeeding Blog provides tons of great info related to breastfeeding. Just this week, the blog featured “Two videos demonstrating different methods of hand expressing milk.” I’ve never tried hand expressing. Have you?
Check out this pillow-shaped inchworm “cleaning robot” – Fukitorimushi. It’s not yet available for sale, but may eventually make its way into stores. Would you buy one?

THANK YOU! You are so sweet for linking to me! I love your TT!
We actually teach our NICU moms to hand express when they don’t have a pump….It works well…
I actually like extra entries…I only subscribe if I like the blog and I’ve never been there. Most of the time I don’t do the extra credit unless it’s a great blogger or a great company…
Fascinating on the names. My 3 girls’ names were top on their year, but aren’t even on the 2008 list.
As for hand-expressing milk, I did that all the time because the one sad little pump I had wouldn’t do the job. I got pretty good at it.
Hi Stephanie. Thanks so much for always linking to the coolest giveaways, articles, and posts on the web. Love your Tuesday Tours. And I really appreciate you sending some traffic love my way!
The cleaning bot kinda creeps me out :\
I personally like just one entry for giveaways…its time consuming to do them all, and while I know you don’t *have* to do the multiple entries, I always feel my odds are lessened if I don’t do them and everyone else does – lol.
I really enjoy your Tuesday Tours, Steph!
Great Tour! I think I’ll skip the jeans contests until after the baby is here LOL
I wonder if the 6 months of free ice cream also take into account pregnant mama’s who could eat a pint at a time, not saying I’d ever do that.
Oh the ice cream… at my last OB visit the doctor asked if they had done a glucose test because there was sugar in my urine… (did I really just say “urine” in a comment :) oh well!) I reminded her that they had done the test and that I had come out fine… I just mentioned that I’d had some ice cream the night before. We won’t say how much ice cream ‘kay? I only gained a pound in 2 weeks so I figure I’m doing ok most of the time!
As for multiple entries – they are a bit of a pain, if I have the time and I really, really, really want to win the prize I do them. If it’s like now and I would love to win the laptop you’re giving away – but I don’t have the time for all the multiple entries so I just entered once and if I win great, and if not… great for someone else. It won’t change my world – winning would just be kinda like a Christmas bonus you weren’t expecting to get – exciting but not something you budget on!
Nice roundup! About the giveaways, I prefer one method of entry. I only do multiple entries if I have time and absolutely love what’s being given away.
And, hand expressing milk…I’ve tried it. It works in a pinch, but a pump is a lot easier to use. Although, I have a friend who hand expressed extra milk to give to another friends baby. She did that for months. I think she must have had the technique down pat.
I”m going to have to stop back and check out more of these links. I really need to go get a shower now though! I did take a quick jaunt over to DownEast and at quick glance find their things beautiful. It intrigued me b/c the only Down East I’ve known in the past is the magazine my grandmother (a Maine dweller) used to get.
Great tour this week! I entered some of the giveaways.
As for giveaway entries, I’m torn. I think a few different ways to enter is fine, maybe no more than 4? But when they have like 10 ways to enter, I think it’s overdoing it. I personally don’t like to ask them to follow my blog for an entry because I want only people to follow if they truly have an interest in what I have to say on my blog.
I don’t care for extra entries because it seems to reward people who either have a blog or have time to submit extra entries. Most of the time I am reading blogs on my phone while taking care of my kids, feeding them or what not, so I don’t even have a chance to submit one entry, let alone do extra credit to get more chances.
I really loved this article and will be visiting the good reads section. I think that there are pros and cons on each side of giveaways with or without the extra entries.
