I’d go for the large Figura in black (BFA1) — our laptop screen size is closer to the 17″ than the 14.1″ for some of the smaller bags. Being thankful for shoulder straps!
The large convertible 17″ from STM offers the best of both worlds — the shoulder strap AND the backpack straps. We’ve had some laptop bags like this before, and they work well.
I’m puzzled — the text descriptions on the Figura website refer to both black and green, but in the graphics they all appear to be black. “Different Drummer” and all that — I think I’d go with the large one in green (BFA1 V).
From the STM site I think I’d go for the large 17″ Duplex — I like the removable laptop sleeve, and I’m amused by the orange trim. The overall look reminds me of the original StarTrek uniform, with the diagonal seam across the outer flap.
For the Figura, I would choose the first one since the capacity is 17″ in black. I wished there were more sizes for the bigger notebooks.

The black Figura backpack in 15.4″ would be great. Backpacks are all that we use here.
On the STM side, I like the large rogue 17″ backpack. Would fit a lot of things and could handle the laptop and other stuff for a business trip.

For STM Bags the large convertible 17″ backpack would work great for my laptop.

I’ve been wanting a laptop backpack for so long, but I can’t justify the expense when I have a perfectly fine carrying bag already. It would be so nice to have a backpack to carry my laptop to and from work and everywhere else I go, though. If I won I’d like to get the 13 inch evolution bag from STM.
