Themed Weekend: Blogging & Social Media

    By Stephanie | July 16, 2009

    bloggingHave you ever wondered…

Well, you’ll be in good company this weekend here at Metropolitan Mama.

I’ll be rolling out a bunch of posts on topics related to blogging and social media. Of course, there will also be a few giveaways thrown in as well…including one particularly big contest that will help you blog (or read blogs, whatever the case may be). Stay tuned.

To kick things off, feel free to leave any blogging/social media-related questions you have on this post and I’ll see if I can “slide” the answers into my series.

P.S. If you work for a PR agency or a corporate brand that is hoping to reach mom bloggers, I’ll have some posts specifically geared to you too. I hope you’ll join in the conversation.

    * The above photo was taken in March 2008 (My daughter was 18 months old in that photo…she’s now 2 1/2 and has been joined by a sweet baby sister…time flies right by).

gosh, since you asked. this is what I’ve been dying to know from other bloggers: How many blogs are in your reader? and how do you balance keeping up with a million other blogs, your own writing, and your adorable girls? …and from your latest posts…your laundry too? somedays I just want to read everyone else’s blogs and then remember I need to post too!

This is what I need. My blog only has a handful of readers and I really want to increase traffic and comments. I also want to make some money blogging – not a ton but a enough to make it worth my time. Thanks in advance for doing this. I hope by the end I will be able to increase traffic.

Love to know more about the different platforms…why do most of the bigger blogs use wordpress? What do you use?

I have wondered…Since my blog is mostly sorta a journal. How do you save and/or print your blogs? I am not good with this stuff! I am looking forward to your posts!

Looking forward to this one. Admittedly, my blog is just for kicks, and I plan to keep it that way. But, I am interested to know how bloggers turn their blogs into businesses. It’s sort of a mystery to me.

I can’t wait to read your thoughts on this topic! I’m constantly wondering if I’ll be able to keep blogging with my return to work this fall. I’d love to find balance between working with PR and maintaining a personal voice.

I’ve found that the tricky part of being involved with blogging and social media is explaining that it isn’t a complete waste of time to my “real life” friends and family who are not interested in connecting with anyone they can’t know in real life. That said, I love blogging, plan to continue and have dabbled in product reviews, social media and etc… and am looking forward to this series.
