Tuesday Tours: What’s Happening on the Web

    By Stephanie | July 29, 2009

Tuesday ToursWelcome to “Tuesday Tours: What’s Happening on the Web” where I serve as your tour guide and showcase the best contests, freebies, deals, and reads for moms on the web…all in one convenient location.

    Contests

The Kmart Design Team is giving away 25 $100 Kmart gift cards. I’m in desperate need of some new clothes due to the fact that I had a baby four months ago and my pre-preg clothes *still* don’t fit quite right. The deadline is July 31.

My 2-year-old is an arts & crafts aficionado. She’d love the Flip and Doodle Easel Desk with Stool that is up for grabs at Perfectly Provident. Deadline: July 31.

Inexpensively.com is giving away 2 $50 Amazon.com gift certificates to celebrate the launch of their site. Deadline: August 2.

Pregnant? I bet you want an Utterly Yours Pregnancy Pillow. Yes, you really do. Deadline: August 11.

    Good Reads

Do you have an e-newsletter for your blog/company? You HAVE to read this: Why Email Marketing is Dead (And How to Bring it Back to Life) by Sonia Simone {copyblogger}.

Want to become a millionaire? Figure out how to create and promote a totally awesome iPhone app {via TechCrunch}.

If you do become a millionaire, can you please use that money to help save the world? There’s a famine in Uganda right now, for example. I’m trying to figure out what I can do about it.

Jo-Lynne {Musings of a Housewife} wrote this Twitter tutorial upon my request: Twitter for Dummies Beginners. Wait a minute…

    Miscellany

You’ve probably around seen this – the YouTube vido sensation: Wedding party boogies down the aisle {via Today Show}. So funny!

    I wish I could sew: Recycle and Reuse, right? {tutus & turtles}

Want to run in a 5K? Here’s some tips and plans to get you started {willrunforcake.com}.

This recipe looks easy and oh-so-delicious: Fresh Blueberry Pancake Syrup on Homemade Waffles {The Mother Load}.

Have you heard of TasteCasting? This is restaurant reviewing of the future. You can join an existing team or launch one in your city.

I don’t know how “legit” this is, but it sounds super fun. Become a Noe-It-All for your chance to “be a part of really cool contests, try out new products and services, and win lots of cool prizes.”

Here’s a little video by Kmart Design that features some of my favorite bloggers. I wish it were longer and I wish I could see the clothes better, but it’s still fun…

I’m not a huge “jewelry person,” but I LOVE this Antique Sparrow Necklace {etsy shop: beyondtherockz}. So Much.

Here’s a reminder about which fruits and vegetables you should buy organic…and which ones don’t matter so much. {The Dirty Work}.

BlogHer 2010 is going to be in NYC…which means I probably won’t be going…which I’m okay with. I think I’d rather go to a smaller, more intimate conference this year…something closer to home. But…oooh…I just noticed that there is a picture of Steph and Ivy {Adventures in Babywearing} up on the BlogHer website. Sweet!

Speaking of BlogHer, have you seen the Ode to BlogHer ’09 {via Telling Dad}? It made me laugh…and made me feel better about not going next year.

Tastecasting sounds like fun! I’d never heard of it before but then again I don’t think they do it here. The organic fruits and vegetables thing was interesting but it would have been nice to see some justification for list. I’m going to ask! I’ve heard that apples are particularly bad for absorbing chemicals before though. We’ve found a place near here that does pick-your-own (and the first variety is apparently going to be ripe any day!)

Hilarious video! I had no clue all of that went on at BlogHer. How childish. Not something I want to be a part of because I want to go to a conference where everyone is civil and there to learn more about blogging/Internet marketing. Guess I should be glad that I didn’t attend this year and doubt now that I’ll go next year. Maybe not being able to get tickets was meant to be and a blessing in disguise! I don’t roll like that LOL

Another great Tuesday tour as usual. Thanks!

I was thinking about the south. I wonder why they never do one in the southern states? Midwest. East. West. What about those southerners?

I’ve got to say NYC in ’10 works well for my budget. All I need is my subway card. I already bought a ticket. I’ll still consider Texas in Feb since it will be brutal here!

Hi Stephanie! Don’t know if this will help you or your readers b/c none of you actually know me either, but as for the Noe-it-All program, I can “testify” that it is indeed legit. I’ve worked with the ladies at Team Noesis for several years now, they do some really fun programs (take a look at some of their case studies on the site) and they just e-mail you occassionally to let you know about new surveys, etc. It isn’t overwhelming (or annoying) amounts of e-mail and they’ve revised their sign-up process to better pin point which programs are a good fit for their members – so most of the time you should be interested in what they send your way! I’m surprised that more people aren’t in on the Noe :-)

I hadn’t seen the wedding boogie yet – that looked like a lot of fun! Our wedding was fun too… the guys came in with fake glasses and noses and buck teeth, but that’s another story for another day :) I appreciate the link about what you should purchase organic and what doesn’t matter as much. So many good links, thanks again!

Isn’t that wedding video classic?! I think you and some other blog masters should put on your own conference! I will help you with the advertising, invitations, event planning side of it! You have what it takes! That could be FUN!

I love Jo-Lynne and her Musings of a Housewife….and I really love Nicole at MomTrends!! I have read your blog for almost 2 yrs, since my son was born, but for some reason only recently signed up for email updating. I should not have waited that long to get your updates. You ladies are some stellar bloggers!! I have never wanted to go to a blogging convention, but I would love to meet some of these amazing women in person(you included, for sure)!!
