I did lots of research on the milk/diet thing when I weaned my little people. While I can see the point of whole milk here, I disagree. We have nothing but skim, but work very hard to ensure Vitamin D levels are high with fish. My oldest LOVES to see my fish marinating. It is quite honestly one of her favorites. We further have very limited saturated fatty snack foods here. We eat lots of polyunsaturated foods - cashews are a favorite of both of my little ones. I dehydrate LOTS - did bananas a few days ago and my kiddos act like dried bananas are candy! Personally, I believe that the levels of fat in milk for children is a parental choice, but those kids whose parents are researching, thinking about it, and working hard to ensure a well balanced diet while at the same time trying to foster healthy eating habits will develop children who learn to make wise food choices for themselves later in life. IMHO that is the real goal!
Rancho Sahuarita does look pretty cool, but I can't say I'm a big fan of the HOA stuff anymore.

I haven't clicked over yet, but I'm curious about the milk thing. Our family recently switched over from nonfat to organic whole. And besides the sticker-shock, we've adjusted well. Actually, I should say *they've* adjusted well. Me? Not so much. I'm working on it though.

Thanks for the shout out Stephanie!

How cool! I love the Take Them a Meal website. Now, if only most of the people who I would be coordinating for that purpose would get online.

Props for reminding everyone to think about fair trade with the Trade as One link. Definitely a topic that deserves more attention especially with all the holiday shopping coming up.

Giveaways: Yay! Great ones this week. Thanks!

Darcie's post: Excellent (and true).

Milk: Eh. I see what they're saying, but it assumes a lot of things. My kids don't drink whole milk anymore, but they also eat loads of fruit and veggies and mostly drink only milk or water. They're not replacing the milk fat with donut fat or soda fat or anything, so I don't buy it.

Thanks again for all of your work in putting this together. I really love reading your Tuesday Web tours and I don't tell you enough. In our house, Lily the 1 1/2 year old drinks whole milk and the rest of us drink skim milk.

I hadn't seen the Take Them a Meal site before. I may have to try it out with the next baby to be born. In our circle we've been using Care Calendar for awhile now. It's pretty easy to use as well.

Great ideas on this post! I am glad you posted the Trade as One link. It is such an amazing organization, and something I am becoming more and more passionate about. Our church hosted a Trade as One boutique on Sunday and it was amazing. It is a challenge and a blessing to know that we can make such a great difference in the world in such a tangible, easy way!
