Thomas Edison once said, “I never perfected an invention that I did not think about in terms of the service it might give others… I find out what the world needs, then I proceed to invent it.” I love his philosophy – his thoughtfulness – his generosity – his ability to look at the bigger picture.
As an entrepreneur, you have a huge ability to make a difference in the world – to use your influence and your company to combat poverty, injustice, abuse, illiteracy, and any number of other societal problems. Don’t forget that as you create your business plans for 2010.

Looks like an interesting format- I would love a shot at this book. Maybe it will help me get moving towards some life goals…
I DO love inspirational books, but mind is drawing a blank as to which ones I read last year. This is probably a stretch but, reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle inspired me to eat more locally grown food and grow some of my own. Several parenting books inspired me to make some changes to the way I was dealing with my son’s tantrums.
I just ordered a book about writing motherhood, since I’m hoping to do a little more writing this year (maybe some freelance!!). Hoping to get inspired from that, too!
This book definitely looks like something right up my alley!!
I love inspirational books, too. I wish that I could think of one right now, but I can’t. I guess they weren’t too inspirational! Maybe I will check this one out.
That sounds like a very interesting book.
This looks like a neat book. The most recent “motivational” book I read (and it’s a bit of a stretch to call it that, but anyway…) was a book about the stories behind some of the old hymns we still sing in some of our churches today. Not really motivating – I guess inspirational would be a better word for it! But still enjoyable.
I love quotes. Thanks for sharing about this book. I’d never heard about it.
I love reading quotes and books that “kick me in the pants” (you made me giggle when I read that) In our foundation,we have been working on a series that promotes teamwork. The series is taken out of the Law of The Big Picture. It has opened my eyes on how I respond and contribute to to our team and with people in general.
I can’t think of a single inspirational book that I read last year. I’m sure there must have been one though.
I have not read any inspiration books recently that is my husbands type of book. He would love this because he needs things like this to keep him going. Especially when he gets into a rut at work.
I didn’t read any….still in denial that 2009 is over! This one looks like fun – love the blank pages part
I like the idea of using a business for good…I have a friend who started a small business about a year ago, and while it’s doing well, he is trying to incorporate the idea of challenging people to do good things for each other. I think that’s awesome!
Sounds like a fun read. I really enjoyed reading Free the Beagle this year.
I would love this book for my husband. In an earlier post you said you thought your husband was a business genius. I feel the same way about my husband. He is all about the business world and love learning about the way capitalism works. He’s always trying to think about what’s going to be the next big thing.
And I’m like: “Dude…let’s just get these diapers changed.”
I’m lucky to have him. My life would be pretty boring without his inspirational remarks.
some of the chicken soup books.
i love to read mverno@roadrunner.com
This sounds like a great book to give to my hubby who is a reader and often needs encouragement for the work that he does!
I would love to read this! I need a little push. My youngest is going into kindergarten in the fall and I need to justify staying at home during the day. I want it to be doing something that I really enjoy! ~Lanie
I could use some inspiration and encouragement. Things have been really rough lately
I finally finished reading my first inspirational book by Elizabeth Gilbert, “Eat, Pray, Love”. I loved it and would love to keep the inspiration coming.
Pre-Levi I read coming and going. Post-Levi not so much. Being a single wham has definitely taken a whole lot of adjusting. And, I’ve only recently gotten to where I’ve been able to juggle it all and begin to read about as much as I used to. I’ve missed reading…and I’ve especially missed inspiring, food for the soul kind of reads.
oooh I love motivational stories – this would be a great way to start off the year!
WEll, I found The prizewinner of defiance., ohio pretty inspiring- it was about a woman who almost supported her family of 12 singlehandedly by winning contests.
I work only partly from home, but I bet this would still be an awesome book to have.
The most inspirational book I read recently is “Adrift” by Steven Callahan, a seriously amazing person.
Thanks for this awesome give-away! This book would be right up my alley for staying positive and upbeat. I finsihed Eat,Pray,Love. I am so excited that they are making it into a movie. I love Julia Roberts!

I love that it’s a mix of all sorts of things. what a lovely gift for someone.
I didn’t read many inspirational books last year, but I did re-read Parenting beyond Belief & Raising Freethinkers. Those 2 books always give me inspiration & motivation!
One can never have too many journals!
I read Embracing the Struggle by Zig Ziglar and it was pretty inspiring.
I’ve read and reread Suzanne Somers books. She’s an icon of inspiration. I also read Permission Slips and a few others that I can’t recall at the moment.

This book would be a great motivator for me. I sometimes wonder if one person matters in this chaotic world.
I read some books by Joyce Meyer and some by Eckhart Tolle.
I haven’t started it yet but I recently won a copy of The Imposter and it looks really inspirational.
Love quotes. Nice to give it a try
I really enjoyed reading memoirs this year.
My favorite was one by Quinn Cummings.
