Products for People Who Work at Home: The 1 Book
By Stephanie | January 12, 2010
Thomas Edison once said, “I never perfected an invention that I did not think about in terms of the service it might give others… I find out what the world needs, then I proceed to invent it.” I love his philosophy – his thoughtfulness – his generosity – his ability to look at the bigger picture.
As an entrepreneur, you have a huge ability to make a difference in the world – to use your influence and your company to combat poverty, injustice, abuse, illiteracy, and any number of other societal problems. Don’t forget that as you create your business plans for 2010.
Need a little inspiration? Pick up The 1 Book, published by Compendium Incorporated. Filled with incredible quotes, motivational stories, cool designs, and plenty of white space, the book is part journal/part coffee table book/part kick-in-the-pants catalyst for action. You’ll be moved – and you’ll realize that your ONE life matters…a lot.

I DO love inspirational books, but mind is drawing a blank as to which ones I read last year. This is probably a stretch but, reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle inspired me to eat more locally grown food and grow some of my own. Several parenting books inspired me to make some changes to the way I was dealing with my son’s tantrums.
I just ordered a book about writing motherhood, since I’m hoping to do a little more writing this year (maybe some freelance!!). Hoping to get inspired from that, too!
This book definitely looks like something right up my alley!!

I love inspirational books, too. I wish that I could think of one right now, but I can’t. I guess they weren’t too inspirational! Maybe I will check this one out.

This looks like a neat book. The most recent “motivational” book I read (and it’s a bit of a stretch to call it that, but anyway…) was a book about the stories behind some of the old hymns we still sing in some of our churches today. Not really motivating – I guess inspirational would be a better word for it! But still enjoyable.

I love reading quotes and books that “kick me in the pants” (you made me giggle when I read that) In our foundation,we have been working on a series that promotes teamwork. The series is taken out of the Law of The Big Picture. It has opened my eyes on how I respond and contribute to to our team and with people in general.

I can’t think of a single inspirational book that I read last year. I’m sure there must have been one though.

I have not read any inspiration books recently that is my husbands type of book. He would love this because he needs things like this to keep him going. Especially when he gets into a rut at work.

I like the idea of using a business for good…I have a friend who started a small business about a year ago, and while it’s doing well, he is trying to incorporate the idea of challenging people to do good things for each other. I think that’s awesome!

I would love this book for my husband. In an earlier post you said you thought your husband was a business genius. I feel the same way about my husband. He is all about the business world and love learning about the way capitalism works. He’s always trying to think about what’s going to be the next big thing.
And I’m like: “Dude…let’s just get these diapers changed.”
I’m lucky to have him. My life would be pretty boring without his inspirational remarks.

Pre-Levi I read coming and going. Post-Levi not so much. Being a single wham has definitely taken a whole lot of adjusting. And, I’ve only recently gotten to where I’ve been able to juggle it all and begin to read about as much as I used to. I’ve missed reading…and I’ve especially missed inspiring, food for the soul kind of reads.
