Remember when my sister Kathryn did my make-up back in October (see right)? Well, I’m not really a full-blown make-up kind of girl, but I LOVED it! This casual Arizona girl who normally just wears a touch of lipstick totally felt glamorous on that day.
I keep thinking that I need to call her and invite her to give me a little one-on-one make-up tutorial because, honestly, I still have no idea how to apply eyeliner (not that I’d wear it that often, but – still – a girl should know, right?).
Anyway, when she was doing my make-up, she pulled out this awesome palette of 88 warm colors for eyes – grays, browns, beiges, reds, plums, and pearls. It was from Coastal Scents, a cosmetics company that sells skin-care and beauty cosmetics and tools (everything from lip liner and mascara to foundation and bronzer).
Frankly, the website is a little overwhelming for this down-to-earth girl. But if you love browsing Sephora and Ulta, you’re bound to like Coastal Scents too.

I think there’s a resemblance, for sure- especially in the eyes. I’m a no-frills makeup girl, too, although I secretly love the concept of 88 colors to play with!
I, too, like to play with color, but wish I knew better how to apply it, especially to the eyes. Most days I don’t have time to play, but that big container of eye shadow does look like fun!

There is a resemblance. Make up last me forever since I no longer wear it everyday. I consider not putting it on all the time one of the perks of staying at home.
I love playing with and trying different makeup – I’m kinda like a little kid still sometimes.

Of course you look amazing…even without makeup. I haven’t heard of Coastal Scents. I used to use M.A.C. eyeshadow, but I am starting to really like Benefit makeup too. I, like you, don’t know much about makeup. I have had to have friends show me how to apply it so it looks good. I mainly use just eye shadows and mascara. I am not brave enough to sport the red lipstick that pull off so well!

You do look somewhat like each other but you can totally see your unique personalities in each of you! You’re so lucky to have your very own makeup artist. That palette is such a makeup persons dream.

Your make-up looks wonderful! I think I’d be confused too….I’m a no nonsense kind of girl. In fact, I’ve been married since 2001 and still own my wedding make-up. (I know that’s bad!!) I bought all new stuff from MAC back then and it’s still what I use today since I RARELY use make-up….maybe 3 times a year, if that. :) I don’t think you and your sister look alike.
I see a resemblance between you and your sister but it’s definitely not the twin factor… and I’d probably take the easy way out on shopping the site… turn my make-up-hungry teens loose… lol (they would love it… might loose my computer for a day, but that’s a small price to pay for beauty…)

There was a time when I spent hours on my makeup in the morning. These days I’m happy if I get a little bit of powder and blush on my face. I always do mascara though, my lashes are very light and my eyes look much smaller without it.
I see the resemblance in the eyes, but I never would have picked her out of a crowd as your sister even though you’re both gorgeous!

Your sister is beautiful – as are you! I use a little bit of makeup – mostly foundation to even out my skin tone with a little blush, eyeliner and mascara. My makeup routine takes me about 6 mins in the morning which is nice because I just don’t have time!
Playing with makeup is so fun! It has been become one of my favorite “me time moments”!

My sister has something like this! Every time I visit her, I use her eyeshadows because they’re so much fun to go through.
I don’t wear tons of make-up (my husband doesn’t know the difference when I do!) but I do enjoy dressing up every now and then. I would love to be able to experiment with different colors to find what works best with my colors.
Cant do eyeliner either- I do like to put spf on in the am with a touch of color in the bottle though!

You both are so beautiful! And have a great smile! I wear eyeshadow and a little bit of mineral powder foundation on the nights that I work (to hide the signs of not sleeping) but on days when I’m home a little lipgloss is about it.

I could really use some help when it comes to makeup colors. I learned recently, that a pink blush looks more natural on me than peach. And when it comes to eye colors, I have no idea what I’m doing. I just stick with very neutral shades. It would be fun to have someone (who knows what they’re talking about) give me a few more options.

My only comment and please don’t be offended because your sister is gorgeous, but the blush on her cheeks take away from her overall look, it looks like two circles, maybe it should be a little lighter or brushed on the apples of the cheeks and up and outward.

Ohh, awesome. I don’t have the warm palette, but I have the other 88 palette and LOVE it. Seriously a great pigment payoff for the price. I’ve been ignoring mine as of late, since I’m currently in love with my Urban Decay eyeshadows, but there is a TON of stuff I’d like to check out from Coastal Scents.

I realized recently that I don’t do very much when it comes to my eye makeup. I just put one shad on the top, and one shade across the bottom. It looks fine, but if I had more colors to work with, I think i could create something with a little more definition. I need a tutorial for how to do it, though!
Eyeliner is a bit tricky to get right but practice makes perfect. My teenage daughter is my makeup artist, she would have a ball with that color palette. You and your sister have the same happy eyes that smile back at the camera.

There is certainly some resemblance between you and your sister, especially from the eyes down. The photo angles make it difficult to say about your eyes. I do think if a saw the pair of you, I would suspect right away that you are sisters, yet you both have your own unique style.
I have two sisters. Although we all have shared some similar characteristics since youth, it is interesting how as we change we age, some similarities are more pronounced, and some less so.
