Those are some good reads this week! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for posting about the strawberry recipe contest! We’re always doing contests on the California Strawberries FB page, so we’ll definitely keep you in the loop. Great blog by the way!
Jodi
Once again, you’ve linked up to some excellent articles. I’ve been telling people the benefits of a smaller home for a while. Our home is small by today’s standards (1,500 sf plus a finished basement) but I strongly feel it fosters a close family. Plus, when my son learned to crawl and walk, it was much easier to keep track of him! And I didn’t need the sound/video monitors while he was sleeping.
thank you so much for sharing my post about how silly mom guilt can get in the way of awesome things sometimes.
i enjoyed each of your other links…thank you!
and lucy lane gotcha? YES. they are a beautiful family with a beautiful journey!
Thank you so much for sharing the adoption video! As a fellow adoptive mama, my heart resonated with so much that I saw in the movie. It was beautiful!
We have 1905 bungalow. It’s small, but perfect for us, so different than the huge homes that are so popular now.
I LOVE Love’s post. Very sweet.
The business cards!
ALL great links!
Thanks for linking me, Stephanie!!
There were a lot of good reads here. I am loving Love’s blog. Thanks for introducing us to it!
Great reads. So many new ones to me. I loved that bff one from Love.
Love the links this week. I want to work for Netflix! I totally agree with the smaller is better w/the housing article, definitely makes you keep things simple. I still want a bigger place or maybe a different sized home. We can’t really entertain in our 700 square foot condo and storage for summer/winter clothing can be a pain. I also disagree with the author’s talk of it being more desirable when selling. We’ve had a very difficult time getting a buyer for our home-folks see it, it’s cute, but too small. :-(
Netflix’s holiday policy is very interesting. We have a sick policy like that. Maybe it’s time to expand it!
The 12 reasons post is also interesting. I’ve always been very aware that we feel entitled to so much more space than was normal even a generation ago. It’s so eye-opening to visit places like Upper Canada Village and read that the small two bedroom places housed fifteen children up until the late fifties.
We’re currently living in a rather large six bedroom house. Most of the houses on our street are even bigger though, and one down the street was recently remodelled to give each of the four guest rooms their own private living room and bathroom suite. We’ve lost the habit of living in community. Maybe we are so bombarded with information and living our life at the rhythm of the overscheduled that we need to withdraw into private spaces more in order to cope? Seems sad.
People tend to expand to fill available space. Even though we have a big house I often feel like we’re bursting at the seams and Elizabeth doesn’t even have her “own” room. We do have six people living here though.
You had some great reads this week. I totally understand what Netflix is doing. Good employees won’t take advantage of the system.
We are going to be moving soon and due to money we are going to downsize to a 2 bedroom. The girls will share a room but i think they are old enough for this. Less to clean, less money and I think we will be happier. We are having a garage sale this weekend to try and get rid of alot of stuff.
