Isn’t it nice when something exceeds your expectations? That’s how Cincinnati was for us.
We pulled into the Winton Woods Campground and were immediately impressed. The well-manicured campground is part of the larger Winton Woods county park, which includes wide biking/walking trails, several playgrounds, a lake for fishing & boating, AND a splash park for little ones (only $2/child). This was among the top 5 campgrounds we have stayed at during our trek across the USA.
A highlight of our trip was our dinner cruise onboard BB RiverBoats. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. We enjoyed a buffet indoors and then wandered around the three decks. To be more accurate, we chased our two littles girls (ages 2 & 4) up and down the steps. Guess what their favorite part of the night was? The dance floor and DJ, of course!
We also stopped in at Jungle Jim’s International Market. Featured on the Travel Channel, this “foodie paradise” is HUGE. The superstore has food from all over the world, plus an extensive wine and beer collection. There’s also plenty for kids to look at – a huge soup can that talks, a scene from Robin Hood, and more. Definitely worth a visit. Anyone want to guess why we took a photo near an outhouse door?
Finally, we walked through the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. The facility features a look at creationism versus evolution…and also walks guests through the Bible. It would be best-suited for elementary-age students and older.
All in all? We will always have fond memories of our time in Cincy. It’s a city I hope to visit again in the future.
