Soothing Sore Nipples, Brought to you by Lansinoh

    Monday, December 3rd, 2007

The first few weeks of breastfeeding aren’t always easy. In fact, they were pretty excruciating for me. My Little Beauty ate like a champ and latched on “perfectly”, according to my delivery nurse and the two lactation consultants that I worked with. But I still ended up with chapped, cracked, and even bleeding nipples. Every [...]

    My Nursing Toddler

    Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

There was something sweet about when Kayla nursed as a tiny newborn - cradled in my arms, latching on with eyes closed, squirming, those precious little squeaks.
But there is something equally dear about having her nurse as a toddler - her hands cupped around my breast, kneading with one hand, how her free hand sometimes [...]

    Nighttime Weaning

    Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Our daughter is almost thirteen months old. Although she doesn’t nurse at all during the day anymore (her choice as much as mine), she still nurses throughout the night. Sometimes she wakes a few times to nurse and then dozes off contentedly. Other times, she loves to lie next to me and vie for a [...]

What Nursing Moms Want - Privacy, Comfort, Style

    Saturday, September 15th, 2007

I recently received a Bebe Au Lait nursing cover in the mail from BabyBecause.I was actually a little nervous about getting the cover because I was afraid that I’d be disappointed. I purchased a First Years Nursing Wrap for about half the price several months ago and was fully dissatisfied. It was awkward because I [...]

    Pretty Nursing Bras, Please!

    Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Yesterday my friend Germaine and I were lamenting the woes of nursing bra shopping.
Typical nursing bra shopping experience:1. Enter maternity store.2. Look through bras.3. Color choices: antique white and beige (if you’re very lucky, there MIGHT be black)4. Style choices: None5. Decide on one of two ugly options.6. Look for your size.7. All of the [...]

    Nursing Ponchos

    Friday, July 20th, 2007

I recently stumbled upon the Under Wraps Nursing Poncho by Victoria Laurin and Baby (pictured). Although it’s on the pricey side ($39.99), it’s stylish and appears to be decent in the “lightweight” and “easy to use” departments.
Bundle Under has a similar product.
Have you tried a nursing poncho? If so, what did you think?

    Tips: Breastfeeding in Public

    Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

I remember the first few weeks of breastfeeding. I felt like I was perpetually feeding my little blue-eyed beauty. It was exhausting - and extremely trying to go anywhere in public.
If we went out, I found myself immediately scoping out the locale for a secluded corner or room to escape to at the baby’s beck-and-call…and [...]

Product Review: Lansinoh Ultra-Soft Breast Pads

    Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

These disposable breast pads come in a box of 36. They have an extra-soft center that cushions tender nipples during the first few weeks of breastfeeding. I tried regular pads by Lansinoh and the ultra-soft version were considerably more comfortable (although pricier too). If you need a quick pain-relief option for cracked and bleeding nipples, [...]

    Product Review: Lily Padz

    Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Lily Padz - “the only completely non-absorbent nursing pad that conforms to you and not your bra”
I went out and purchased a pair of Lily Padz around week four or five of nursing. I was looking for a pad that was smooth and bulk-free - one that would allow me to wear normal shirts again [...]
