    From Scrapbooking Superstar to…

    Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Pre-baby, I was a scrapbooking superstar. I enjoyed going to evening crops and would stay up late into the night with friends, contemplating the best way to capture my memories for posterity. I used ribbon and buttons, stickers and quotes, and I picked each photo and each layout with such care.
    Post-baby, I somehow mustered up [...]

Sweetpeace: The Lexus of Baby Swings

    Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

The newborn stage is a little bit foggy in my memory now that I have an active, adventurous, walking, talking little girl. I remember it with crisp clarity and yet it’s also somewhat vague and surreal.
Although our daughter was generally a very content baby, there were nights when we weren’t sure how to soothe her. [...]

Cute, Comfy PJ’s for Kids of All Ages

    Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Isn’t it wonderful to pull on a pair of pajamas after a long day? I love that experience - lounging around in a cami or tee and slouchy pants while watching a movie or working on my laptop.
I can only imagine that my daughter appreciates wearing comfy pj’s to bed as much as I do. [...]

Books at Bedtime - Her Favorites versus My Favorites

    Saturday, June 21st, 2008

There are some children’s book that are made for parents. For example, I love the gorgeous artwork and the lyrical text of Only You by Robin Cruise and the sentimental sweetness of Someday by Alison McGhee, but my daughter isn’t particularly attached to either of them. I’ll pull them out at bedtime (or anytime throughout [...]

There’s A Frog in My Bathtub!

    Friday, June 20th, 2008

We give our daughter a bath every night before bed - partly because, despite popular belief, my daughter gets very, very messy throughout the day. She loves blowing bubbles and going on walks and exploring nature and playing with her food…and so, understandably, she is just a tad bit dirty by the end of the [...]

    Safer Bibs for Drooling Babies

    Friday, June 20th, 2008

My daughter never was much of a bib-wearer. She actually didn’t drool a whole lot and I just preferred to change her clothes after messy meals instead of using a bib (not sure why - I think I’m just a minimalist by nature…).
That said, I know plenty of moms who have their little ones wear [...]

    One Good Deed A Day

    Thursday, June 19th, 2008

I used to keep this quote on my desk at work: “What am I to do? I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good work, therefore, any kindness, or any service I can render to any soul of man…let me do it now. Let me not neglect or defer it, for I [...]

    A Potty Training Story

    Monday, June 16th, 2008

Last month, we started having our 21-month-old daughter wear panties during the day instead of diapers. It actually unraveled in a rather uncomplicated and natural way. We started with a pack of Hanes 2T underwear (which fit our petite daughter surprisingly well), a BabyBjorn Potty Chair, and a positive attitude.
In the mornings, we just started [...]

Work It, Mom! (A Place Where Working Moms Connect)

    Sunday, June 15th, 2008

This weekend’s theme is “during the day” and, for many of you, I know most of your daytime hours are spent at work. For this reason, I’m delighted to introduce you to a site where you can connect with moms just like you - moms who work in some capacity - inside the house or [...]

    Outdoor Activity: Water Play

    Sunday, June 15th, 2008

If you just have to get out of the house and you want to brave the scorching summer heat, one of the best ways to stay cool is by getting wet.
Here are some fun water activities to enjoy with your infant, toddler, preschooler, or school age child(ren):
    1. Buy a mini plastic pool. Fill it up. [...]

    Indoor Activity #2: Enter Contests

    Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Your baby/toddler is asleep and you’re wondering what to do to pass the time. Or maybe there are too many things to do (laundry, prepping for dinner, vacuuming, organizing the pantry…) and you need a little break.
Here’s an idea: enter a few contests…but before you get started, I have to say that this past-time is [...]

Indoor Activity #1: Storytime at Home

    Saturday, June 14th, 2008

It’s over 100 degrees today and so we’re definitely not venturing out into the scorching sunlight this afternoon.
That said, it’s hard to keep an almost-2-year-old indoors all day without going cray-zee. One of the ultimate sanity savers in our house on days like today are books.
We read book-after-book. And it’s always nice to have a [...]
