Somebody Loves You, Nicole Bateman

Congratulations to Nicole Bateman…this week’s recipient of a SLY Award here on Metropolitan Mama.

sly awards nicole Somebody Loves You, Nicole BatemanThe world is full of darkness, scary people, and broken hearts. Fortunately, it’s also full of people that are kind, good, genuine, and warm – people like Nicole Bateman. She and her husband are both the kind of people that spread care and service to everyone they meet. It’s not a contrived kind of thoughtfulness, either – it springs from deep down in their hearts.

Nicole manages to write two blogs [the pixel boutique and confessions of a cropaholic], run a design business and an etsy shop, be a great example for her 3 boys, and be a wonderful friend (all while looking super cute in her awesome thrift store fashion finds, I might add). She’s the kind of person who will remember your birthday or bring you chicken soup when you’re sick – little acts of hospitality that make a big difference.

Also, of note: Her husband is a police officer. He keeps the bad guys off the streets and helps people in danger, all while staying remarkably tender-hearted (Ex. he loves babies…and is great with kids).

Won’t you join with me as I celebrate Nicole and shower her with two surprise gifts hand-selected just for her? Oh, and YOU will have a chance to win both products too.

If you know Nicole in real life [or if you read one or both of her blogs], please leave a compliment here for her. Let’s give her something to smile about today!

Somebody Loves You, Dayna Hadden

SLY header 300x146 Somebody Loves You, Dayna Hadden

Congratulations to Dayna Hadden…this week’s recipient of a SLY Award here on Metropolitan Mama.

sly awards dayna Somebody Loves You, Dayna HaddenEvery once in awhile, some scary emergency happens and you end up at the hospital. You hope and pray for a caring, compassionate, and intelligent nurse to watch over you and/or your precious family member. You don’t know it, but…you’re praying for someone like Dayna Hadden.

Dayna has been a nurse since 2004. She works in the pediatric intensive care unit – a place of many tears, much sorrow, and much healing. If you showed up at her hospital, bleary-eyed and beaten down, you would feel a sudden sense of relief upon seeing her warm eyes, her sincere smile, and her calming voice. You would undoubtedly notice her stunning natural beauty, but you would be drawn in by her good heart.

Dayna had this to say about her occupation of choice, “I find my work as an RN challenging- academically, clinically, spiritually, & emotionally. I like the variety of our patient population- newborn all the way to young adult & w/ many different diagnoses- trauma, transplants, cancer…etc. I am thankful for such a tangible way to try to serve and reflect God’s love.

somebody loves you dayna Somebody Loves You, Dayna HaddenThe cool thing about Dayna is that she is also extremely cognizant of her most significant role – as mom to her two delightful little girls, ages 6 months and 2.5 years old. She works on the weekends from 7pm-7am to ensure that her girls don’t have any non-parental care and I’m fairly certain that she sacrifices sleep for playtime on some of those days.

She is a gentle, strong, and beautiful woman. (And  - P.S. – she’s thinking about starting a blog!)

Won’t you join with me as I celebrate Dayna and shower her with two surprise gifts hand-selected just for her? Oh, and YOU will have a chance to win both products too.

If you know Dayna in real life [or if you have something to say about her story...], please leave a compliment here for her. Let’s give her something to smile about today!

Congratulations to Sarah Bessey…this week’s recipient of a SLY Award here on Metropolitan Mama.

sly awards sarah bessey Somebody Loves You, Sarah BesseyIt’s very rare that I stumble across a blog and subscribe RIGHT AWAY because I get positively sucked in.

That happened with Sarah’s blog, however.

I found Emerging Mummy several months ago and was immediately mesmerized by Sarah’s eloquence, her sincerity, and her way of living life with such a delightful splash. It is obvious that she knows LOVE…and that she is spreading it to those in her circle.

For starters, she is a gentle and thoughtful parent to her two tinies – Anne and Joseph. She doesn’t just do things without thinking – she has reasons (and I so love that).

Sarah also works as the Director of Marketing and Communications for Mercy Ministries, a non-profit residential program that serves a diverse population of young women from various socio-economic backgrounds, ages 19-28. The program is free and voluntary…open to young women who face a combination of life-controlling issues such as eating disorders, self-harm, drug and alcohol addictions, physical and sexual abuse, and unplanned pregnancy.

I first heard about this ministry almost 12 years ago and have always loved and supported it. Now, to be a part of opening the first Canadian home, well, it’s a God-thing, for sure. I am so honoured and blessed to be here. We’re going to be opening on May 29th, welcoming the women of Canada in to restore hope and transform lives.”

Won’t you join with me as I celebrate Sarah and shower her with two surprise gifts hand-selected just for her? Oh, and YOU will have a chance to win both products too.

If you know Sarah in real life or if you read her blog [Emerging Mummy], please leave a compliment here for her. Let’s give her something to smile about today!

Congratulations to Stephanie Precourt…this week’s recipient of a SLY Award here on Metropolitan Mama.

sly awards stephanie precourt Somebody Loves You, Stephanie PrecourtIf you blog or read blogs, you probably know about Stephanie Precourt (or “Steph,” as many people know her).

Steph blogs at Adventures in Babywearing about life with her four kids in Indiana, but it’s not your typical personal blog. On the contrary, Steph is a highly skilled writer, photographer, and relationship-builder. Her well-crafted posts inspire and motivate the masses (and I do mean “masses” – her influence is off-the-charts!) – encouraging others to live beautiful lives, full of color and meaning and friendship and hope.

So, did you like the SLY Awards?

SLY header 150x73 So, did you like the SLY Awards?Congrats again to Kristen, the very 1st recipient of a SLY Award here at Metropolitan Mama. She’s kind. She’s intentional about parenting. She’s honest. And she previously lived in SE Asia, working toward literacy development. She is totally worthy of this honor and it was my pleasure to provide her with a few gifts to show my admiration.

The past few days have been so, so, so much fun. You know that little quote, “it’s better to give than receive“? Well, it’s true.

Quick Question for you – how often do you want to see SLY Awards happen here at Metropolitan Mama?

I may or may not go in the direction of the majority, but I’d really like to hear your thoughts. I’m curious if you’re more on the side of “I like it, but I prefer to read your personal musings most of all” or “If you have sponsoring companies all lined up, why not surprise as many people as possible?” If you would click on my poll, I’d be appreciative. Thank you, mucho.

bye for now So, did you like the SLY Awards?

Congratulations to Kristen McGee…the very 1st recipient of a SLY Award here on Metropolitan Mama.

kristen m sly awards Somebody Loves You, Kristen McGeeKristen is a giving, thoughtful, and intelligent woman. She and her husband currently work in language and literacy development with a linguistic NGO.

Pre-kids, they spent a year in an immersion language program and lived in SE Asia. Now they live on the east coast with their 14 month old son…and they have a second baby due in late May!

When I asked her about volunteer work, she said, “Nothing out of the home right now… I volunteer a lot of my time (ok, all of it!) to my child. That’s the best place… and someday I hope to get more involved in the community… with my kids’ help!

The best place indeed.

Won’t you join with me as I celebrate Kristen over the next few days and shower her with surprise gifts hand-selected just for her? Oh, and YOU will have a chance to win all of the products too.

If you know Kristen in real life or if you read her blog, you can get a second entry in all of the giveaways. Simply leave a comment on this post with one thing you love about her.
