Eight-year-old girls are beautiful, smart, fun, and funny. They are eager to please, but also have strong opinions of their own. They are both confident and humble. They still play make-believe, but they also have sincere and profound discussions with people close to them.
If you have an 8-year-old girl in your life, I have some birthday gift ideas that will please most any personality.
It could be argued that a girl of any age would be overjoyed to receive a great pair of cowgirl boots. Four reasons come to mind - they're stylish, versatile, durable, and comfortable. Cowgirl boots can be worn with jeans, skirts, or dresses in almost all kinds of weather. They last forever and can be passed down (or used as decorations) after they're outgrown.
The Esmerelda Brown Justin Gypsy™ girl's cowboy boot features "a chocolate brown leather exterior that provides a perfect backdrop for the colorful stitch pattern of simple hearts and flowers." The soft round toe provides an easy fit and the J-Flex Flexible Comfort System® insole with removable orthotic inserts add cushion and support so your little one can run free. We especially love that this pair lights up!
Your adventurous girl will be thrilled to receive a pair of neon green Motorola walkie-talkies in the T600 series. They are rugged, durable, and completely waterproof. With a 35-mile range, the birthday girl will be able to take these on the hiking trail, out camping, onboard a ship, or on urban adventures. Ideal for playing detective or talking with friends - not to mention emergency preparedness! Dad and/or mom may even want to "steal" them for their own outdoor expeditions.
Eight is a good age to introduce girls to the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Filled with adventure, heartache, suspense, humor, and history, the books are beautifully written and have been adored by children for generations. You can purchase the whole series for your special girl or gift her with this new coloring book by HarperCollins. Featuring the original illustrations by Garth Williams.
Nurture a close relationship with your daughter with this pretty back-and-forth journal for mothers and daughters. One side is for the daughter; the other side is for the mother. Lots of fun & insightful writing prompts like "Three things I might want to be when I grow up and why..." and "a drawing of my dream room." Note that there is one 2-page spread about crushes/dating, which isn't ideal for younger girls.
Your eight-year-old will love the adorable, handmade stuffed dolls by Cuddle + Kind. These super sweet and snuggly friends are available in two sizes and are elegant enough to double as decor pieces in your child's bedroom.
What birthday gift ideas would you add for 8-year-old girls?
Hah, these are a pretty much fabulous ideas for girls AND boys! I put walkie talkies on the list for my sister in law who wanted ideas for the boys. And we never turn down art projects and supplies. Also Land's End is the go to for my oldest who has now outgrown both Tea and Hanna (sad!).
But finally, thanks for the fabulous idea of cowgirl boots! The girls much prefer to wear boots with everything and they destroy the toes of the OshKosh ones we have on the first wear. I need to look into these!
(and yeah, twirl dresses are the go to around here, although a close second are maxi dresses from Tea!)
